What is orthodontics?

Orthodontics concentrates on moving teeth to a better position with braces.  Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry.  Lots of people call it “teeth straightening” or “braces.”  A prettier smile with “straighter teeth” is a big reason why you might want braces but some people have an asymmetry or a skeletal imbalance that needs improving.

What is an orthodontist?

An orthodontist is someone who has completed an Orthodontic Residency.  After four years of college then four years of dental school your orthodontist, Dr. Partrick, completed three years of orthodontic training.

Why should I be considering orthodontics?

There are many benefits of orthodontics.  One of the more important benefits is improved self image and self esteem.  People have more self confidence when they know they look good.  One of the great experiences in orthodontics is to show a patient their before and after pictures!  Depending on the patient’s problems, another benefit to orthodontics is readying the patient for Orthognathic surgery.  Improved occlusion (how teeth bite together) is also a benefit of orthodontics.
